While Cobalt Broadband’s functioning time has gone up lately after an absolutely horrible first quarter of 2010, I’ve been tracking a new problem that has developed and become quite large. Whatever they did to increase their uptime has caused a corresponding loss in “Round Trip Time” and responsiveness. RTT is currently 788ms. I’ll translate that to English now 🙂
Online gaming is impossible. All your actions aren’t reflected on screen for almost a full second, so you will always be lagging behind all the other players by .78 seconds. This is an eternity in multiplayer action. Acceptable ranges are only below .22 seconds.
Also, no matter where I try to watch a video (Youtube, Google, Netflix, Xbox), the video constantly stops and starts. It has become increasingly bad.
And now, today’s speedtest. Proof of Cobalt’s crappy service.
